About Me

Hello, I’m Sweta. I am a hybrid of scholar and practitioner with a background in foreign languages and literatures, English and Chinese in particular, but also French and Spanish. My scholarly expertise lies in linguistics, international relations and intercultural communication, as well as media management (film, television, and audiovisual media practice in particular), creativity and innovation.

I’ve held a professional place in the media industry for eight years. At the age of eighteen, I published my first book, In una galassia non molto lontana, an essay about the Star Wars saga in which I point out that, differently from what may seem, the world in which this fantastic story takes place is not so “far away” from ours: in my work, in fact, I take the reader on a journey across the European history, philosophy and literature of the 19th and 20th century, highlighting some of the themes, philosophical theories and historical facts which may have inspired the creation of the Star Wars saga. The following year, I also wrote an essay in Chinese to promote this first publication of mine and won the 2012 Encouragement Award at the Confucius Institute Cup International Composition Competition for Chinese Language Learners.

In 2014 I had my first chance to put my love for theatre and live performance to practice, working as a stage manager and assistant director on the play Friendly Fire by Gerard Humphreys at The New Theatre, in Dublin (Ireland). The following year, after graduating with full marks in foreign languages and literature at the Catholic University of Milan, I entered the world of fashion and marketing, working at an advertising agency and representing Italian luxury brands such as Armani, Gucci and Prada on the International press. In 2016, I moved to London, where I completed an MA in Screenwriting at the London Film School. During my three-year stay in the city, I’ve collaborated with several filmmakers as a screenwriter, director, producer, script editor, AD and production coordinator, signing numerous audiovisual products of various genres and formats (short films, feature films, documentaries, docu-series and promotional videos).

In 2019, I was headhunted by Skydance Animation to move to Madrid (Spain) to work on Dragonkeeper, the first co-production between Spain and China, where I could combine my knowledge of the Chinese language, culture and film market with my experience in film production. I enthusiastically accepted and, since then, I’ve been flourishing at Skydance Animation, having the opportunity to work as a senior production coordinator on wonderful 3D animation productions such as Blush, Luck and, most recently, Spellbound.

Dance as if you were the most beautiful dancer in the world and as if all those people had come specifically to see only you.

These are the words Eloïse Leroy grew up with, this is the recommendation she strived to put into practice every day as she stepped onto the stage to delight the sight of thousands of spectators, from the age of five, until today, as the étoile of L’Opéra de Paris. But a dancer's glory is like a comet: explosive, elusive, momentary. At the age of thirty-five, Eloïse is preparing to embark on a new chapter in her career within the world of contemporary ballet, stepping in as the artistic director of the theater.

Praised by critics, adored by colleagues and choreographers, and loved by the public, it seems that nothing and no one can topple her from her pedestal. Yet, what will happen shortly before the final interview to confirm her new role will forever mark her existence and force her to reconsider her priorities.

With elegance, depth, and sensitivity, Sweta Tagliabue tells a story of ambition, introspection, and love, exploring how destiny leads humans to separate and reunite, betray each other while loving, hurt and sacrifice for one another.
